What is the Humble Brony Bundle?

First you need to know about the Humble Indie Bundle, packs of indie games sold DRM-free at whatever price you choose to pay. Most of the money goes to charity, with a healthy amount going to the developers, along with a tip to Humble Bundle, Inc. itself. The ten highest contributors are displayed prominently on the site.

So, what is the Humble Brony Bundle? A way for bronies to come together and create a fund to buy one big copy of the Humble Indie Bundle. By pooling our resources we can support charities, indie gaming, and show how generous bronies are!

Why should you join the Humble Brony Bundle cause?

CHARITY:
60% of all Humble Brony Bundle proceeds will be contributed to charity. This is split between two groups:

  • Child's Play, an organization that provides games to sick children in hospitals. I can't imagine a better organization to love and tolerate. I'll let their About page speak for itself:
"Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. [...] Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience."

  • The American Red Cross. If you house burns down you go to them for hotel money and help on starting over. If your town is leveled by a flood the Red Cross is there with food, water, clothes, and blankets. They raise money for worthy causes, help military families stay in touch, and are the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the USA. What don't these guys do?!

INDIE GAMING:
30% of all Humble Brony Bundle proceeds will be contributed to indie game developers.

Have you ever played Minecraft, Super Meat Boy, Amnesia, Terraria, Limbo, Cave Story, Bastion, World of Goo, Braid, or Cthulhu Saves the World? While some of these games may have grown into franchises all their own, they all entered the gaming arena as independent games, or "indie" games. There are thousands and thousands of games out there made by small development groups, most of which never achieve any real financial success.

These games all started as someone's pet project, or the dream of a group of dedicated people who just wanted to make something awesome and hopefully make a living off of it. These people are LIVING THE DREAM, and the Humble Brony Bundle is proud to support them in their goals of doing something awesome and making money doing it!

HUMBLE BUNDLE, INC.:
10% of all Humble Brony Bundle proceeds will be contributed to Humble Bundle, Inc.

Without this organization there would be no Humble Indie Bundles or Humble Brony Bundle, a terrible loss for humility on a global scale! But in all seriousness, hosting the Humble Bundles costs a whole lot of bandwidth. It's not just when people go to buy the games, but into perpetuity! If you decide three years from now that you want to replay your copy of Revenge of the Titans you got in Bundle #2 back in 2010 it will still be there waiting, DRM-free and downloadable at glorious speeds.

Humble Bundle, Inc. supports good charities and indie gaming, so the Humble Brony Bundle supports them!

GOOD PUBLICITY:
100% of all Humble Brony Bundle proceeds will get bronies good press!

The members of many fandoms are concerned about how others see them, and bronies in particular have some rather pastel-colored first impressions to overcome. Some people strongly fear bad press and will do anything they can to limit it.

I say... forget about the bad, let's make some GOOD press! Let's show the world that when bronies come together we make good things happen! With all of our pledges combined we can make one big payment to the Humble Indie Bundle and get on the Top Contributors list. When your name is next to Minecraft creator notch on a list of top donations people take note, and what they'll see is that a bunch of people who love multicolored equines united under one flag to do something good!

How can you help?

Not everyone can donate; we don't all have Paypal accounts or access to credit cards. That's okay! What can you do to help instead? Spread the word!

If you know anyone who bought the Humble Indie Bundle, or know any bronies who are into charity, digital rights, indie games, DRM-free gaming, or just doing something good with a couple bucks... please, say something!

Just do the math: one person donating $5 compared to one person spreading the word to 10 people who each donate $2; we appreciate both, but the fancy mathematics don't lie! So please, mention us to your friends, bring us up on your imageboard of choice, add us to your forum signatures, print out flyers and air drop them on your neighborhood, and tattoo Humble Brony Bundle on your flank! You know, little things like that.
